Project Description

Basse Asplund

Partner – European Patent Attorney

Basse Asplund has been an appreciated patent attorney since 2008 when he joined Brann. He has a Ph. D in chemistry and his research field was in polymer chemistry with focus on tissue engineering and drug delivery systems using biodegradable polymers. Basse received the Bjurzon reward for his excellent thesis.

Basse is well experienced in drafting and prosecuting patent applications and has represented clients during oral proceedings before the Swedish Patent Office and EPO Board of Appeal. He also works with Freedom to operate evaluations and IPR strategies.

Always keeping his client’s best in mind and striving to give them as clear and concise advice as possible, has made Basse a very important and well liked attorney. His goal is to give the clients the best possible conditions to make informed decisions without the need of understanding IP rights in all its complexity. Thereby, he works closely together with his customers getting to know their technology, their market and their competition to be able to give them tailor made advice in every aspect of their business. Basse is proud to have been with his biggest clients since they set up shop and is well inducted in their goals and challenges. To be able to follow the clients as they grow and prosper is one of the things Basse loves most about his job.

Also in his private life, Basse is the kind of person who goes all the way and easily engages in the things he is presented with. An example of that is his involvement in his children’s soccer practice. Not only is he coaching, he is also a member of the board of the soccer organization and he loves to be a part of non-profit activities. Basse’s wife runs her own clothing line and Basse enjoys their discussions about trademarks, brand building, customers, customer relations and product development and has learnt a lot about entrepreneurship through this.
