Brann grows on declining market

The number of validations of granted European patents have declined over the past few years. From 2006 to 2009 the number of validated patents fell with 23%. During the first six months of 2010 the number is down 8%. During the same period the number of validations handled by Brann has gone up with 16%. –We believe that the decline in validations is due to increased cost awareness in the aftermath of the financial crisis, says Hampus Rystedt, European Patent Attorney and Director of the Patent Department at Brann. Nowadays you do not validate a patent in a country unless you see a substantial benefit in having the national patent. Of course we are very proud of taking market shares when the clients really scrutinize what they get for their money. I think this confirms that we provide a high quality to our customers both regarding the day-to-day contact with the clients and the substantive legal support we offer our clients.
